This page is dedicated to the upper Toarcian. A large fraction of the fossils illustrated below come from the area around the city of Lyon in France (from the leftovers of the old iron mines around Lyon and from the Lafarge-Holcim quarry of Belmont).

Size: ~7cm

Origin: personal find, left-overs from an iron mine - Les Moines / Saint-Quentin Fallavier / Rhône / France

Comments: ammonite of the infamous "couche à coquillages" ("shell layer"). Luckily for us, this layer was relatively poor in iron and was of no interest for the miners and the blast furnaces of Vienne so they just threw large blocks full of ammonites down the slope close to the mines...
